It contains glimepiride and metformin as its active ingredient. It is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus along with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Type 2 diabetes is a health condition in which your cells don’t respond normally to insulin. Insulin is a hormone that regulates how your body utilises sugar. This leads to increased blood sugar that can further lead to serious health conditions. This medicine works by increasing insulin production and restoring the natural response of the body to insulin. This not only controls your blood sugar levels but also reduces the risk of other health conditions associated with increased blood sugar. Glycomet-GP 1 tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor. Uses

Glycomet-GP 1 tablet is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus; when diet, exercise and glimepiride or metformin alone is not able to control the blood sugar levels.

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic to metformin, glimepiride or other ingredients of the Glycomet-GP 1 tablet.
  • If you are pregnant or are breastfeeding.
  • If you have kidney or liver failure.
  • If you have metabolic acidosis (too much acid in the body fluids) like lactic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis or diabetic pre-coma.
  • If you suffer from dehydration, severe infections, shock and injections containing iodine.
  • If you have or had heart or lung failure, the incidence of heart attack and shock.
  • If you are an alcoholic.

  • If you experience these symptoms, take glucose or juice or sugar-containing products (sugar candy) and contact the doctor or visit the nearest hospital as you may require close monitoring for the next few hours.

Missed a Dose

  • A missed dose may lead to high blood sugar levels, which includes symptoms like feeling thirsty, excessive urination, loss of appetite, dry mouth, the fruity smell from breath, etc.
  • If you have missed taking a dose of the Glycomet-GP 1 tablet, take it as soon as you remember.
  • If it’s time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dose schedule.
  • Avoid taking a double dose to compensate for the missed one.
