Medical Description

Cilacar 10 tablet is a blood pressure-lowering medicine. It contains cilnidipine as an active ingredient. It is used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). Cilacar works by suppressing the contraction of blood vessels and thereby reducing blood pressure.

The dose and duration of this medicine are decided by your doctor after assessing your condition. You should take this medicine at a fixed time for optimal results. High blood pressure is a critical health condition, if not treated, can affect other organs such as the brain, kidneys and blood vessels.

Nexovas 10, Lnbloc 10, Cilaheart 10, Cetanil 10 and Dilnip 10 are some other medicines containing cilnidipine as the main ingredient.

Taking Cilacar regularly as prescribed by your doctor, along with other lifestyle changes, can help you better control your blood pressure. Some of these changes include eating a low-fat and low-salt diet, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly, limiting alcohol intake, and avoiding smoking.

How does this medicine work?

  • The active ingredient in this medicine works by:
  • blocking L-type calcium channels in blood vessels, helping them relax and widen so that blood can flow more easily.
  • blocking N-type calcium channels, which helps reduce sympathetic nerve activity (the nerves involved in the body’s fight-or-flight response, which can increase blood pressure).
  • reducing peripheral vascular resistance, thereby lowering blood pressure and decreasing cardiac workload.
